BIS HALLMARKING
The BIS Hallmark is a hallmarking system for gold jewellery sold in India certifying the purity of the metal. It certifies that the piece of jewellery conforms to a set of standards laid by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the national standards organization of India. India is the second biggest market for gold and its jewellery.
ASSAYING
Assaying and Hallmarking Centres (AHCs) test pieces of jewellery individually to ensure that proper standards are followed in their making and that the hallmarked products do contain the assured cartage of gold.
NEED OF HALLMARKING
The Hallmarking of jewellery/artefacts has been required to enhance the credibility of gold Jewellery and Customer satisfaction through third party assurance for the marked purity/fineness of gold, consumer protection.
